Ive bought a bottle of this for the last few years every xmas & this year i wish i hadnt. not a patch on what it was & Ballentine's have even given it a screw cap now from a cork (cutting costs no doubt) i will look for an alternative next time.

Good one, sweet and smooth, but for this price you can find so much better alternatives. Sorry Jim, for me it is not worth even 90 points

Reminds me Ballantise's Finest in many ways, but there is more density and depthness of flavour in 17 yo. Unfortunately the palate won't open up in the full glory, even with water. Like it's hiding something... Anyway, an excellent blend.

"Nose": Soft peat, Oriental tea, wet cedar. "Palate": Sweet peat, limes, green tea, turning to slight tangerine entwined with honey. Effervesence of lime Perrier and other citrus notes will delight the palate. Grain is sweet and very good. The palate is easy, rounded and displays a classic blended scotch style. Very mellow. "Finish": Flavors change up from mellow to give a little kick. Malty, oak laden, tangy sea salt, dries a little.

Having loved Ballantine's as a blend for many years since the 1970's, this is the pinnacle of perfection. You don't need to an expert to taste and saver a great Scotch whisky. Well done Ballantine's.

A really good one. Maybe Ballantine's should make up a pur malt expression?!?

The best affordable BALLANTINE's and scottish blend probably. A must have. Forget the flat 12 y.o....you won't regret this one.
