This blend of pot and column still rum from Foursquare distillery in Barbados has been matured for at least six years and finished in an oloroso sherry cask. This rum has a rich, fruity character, with notes of toffee, raisins and vanilla throughout the palate. The label features an image of the grand Hyacinth Macaw – the largest macaw in the world.

I first met this rum at a Caribbean wedding in London. It only took one sip to immediately take a photo of the bottle so I could enjoy it again. After buying 3 bottles so far I can safely say this is a new favourite. Yes, you will enjoy hints of fruit, vanilla, chocolate and of course the good old sherry cask finish, which gives it that taste I fell in love with. If you love sipping a rum with friends, this one will get them reaching for their phones to take a picture. Thank me later! ??
The Doorly's XO I felt was complex enough for me to enjoy, but had no WOW factor. I could smell pineapple, ginger, orange zest and brown sugar in this, with tasting notes beginning with a savoury nature, rounding off into banana, bitterness of 100% cocoa creeping in, tailing off to a mellow creamy walnutty aftertaste. I gave this one a 6/10. I much preferred the 12, which I felt is much smoother with more complexity
For the price this is superb. OK it doesn't have the depth of Foursquare Exceptional Cask releases but at less than half the price this is a great rum to be sipped neat or enjoyed with your favourite mixer. Great value!
Doorlys XO is always a crowd pleaser. Blends well with a standard mixer but also great in a Mai Tai and other cocktails. Really great rum
