The first bottling of Tomintoul to be released after it changed hands in 2000, it's a rounded dram with fruit and toffee, and a peppery finish.

Tomintoul-10 reminds me of an unsigned indie band, compared to say some commercial pop of the other speysides. It's not as finessed, not as distinctly fruity or sweet and the flavours run together a bit, but it's energetic and spicy. Further more, it improves the more you drink it rather.

When malts were still an interest instead of an obsession, I had this when I was on holiday in the Braemar area. To this day, even after old Highland Parks, eccentric Dalmores and rare Auchentoshans, I have not had a dram as uniquely, unassumingly pleasurable as this was when mixed with water straight from the tap.
