Long known to blenders as a category 'A' malt, Balblair is a terrific malt whisky worthy of far greater exposure than it has previously enjoyed. Relaunched in 2007 as a series of vintage expressions, and repositioned as a premium product, this previously unsung hero is now finally getting the attention and respect it deserves.

Remarkable tropical notes of banana velvety caramel, a hint of toast and white chocolate. Quite smooth and lingered on the tongue, delicious. what a great way to start loving whiskey!Wish we had bought two bottles to bring back to the states.

Mine was bottled in 2011, a superb whisky, light and floral, the finish as is typical of older whiskies was short but pleasant.

Banana on the nose? Amazing. Smooth, delicate, amazingly long finish. This is my favorite scotch to drink after a meal with salmon.

This has a sharp floral nose, with citrus hints. The body is oaky and peppery. While some have called this whisky 'subtle', for me it lacks depth. I also thought the finish was a little weak.

A very tempting nose, flower like (in good way) and yes, some banana too. Mouth feeling is warm, soft, lightly smoky and caramel. A very rich, deep and complex malt. I took one dram, didn't buy a bottle. I wish it would be as easy as just click "add to basket"...

Bought a mini of this to try last night. I'll be getting a bottle for sure. Very nice - subtle and fragrant at first, but with a deceptive hidden punch; followed by a lingering Highland end. Great for the money.

An astonishing whisky......banana on the nose anyone? Smooth, subtle and very sophisticated. Would happily pay twice the asking price for a drink this good! This is a whisky to impress your friends
