Blended Scotch Whisky
A true rarity – the Single Blend. A blend of malt and grain whisky from a single distillery is rare enough, but when that whisky has been marrying for 42 years it’s fair to say that it’s a one-off. With delicious, sprightly citrus and rich, lustrous malt allied to delicate grain, this is a whisky of simply stunning quality at a great price.

Tasting Notes:
Tasting Notes by Tim F

Nose: A compelling multi-layered nose, immediately signalling a whisky of serious intent.  Very rich, with sweet orange marmalade, toffee, raisins, baked fruit and toasted grains all jostling for attention.  A beautiful nose.

Palate:  Strong citrus and some not unpleasant rubbery notes to begin with, then a surge of grapefruit heralds the arrival of all the flavours from the nose, mingling with silky grain, and rounded with some muscular, but nuanced, tobacco-tinged oak notes.  Clearly some outstanding casks used here.

Finish: An exuberant but still exceptionally complex whisky fades out slowly in a dance of perfectly-melded grain, malt and oak - the citrus notes and the lustrous malt being the last men standing.  The balance is flawless, not entirely surprising after over four
decades of marrying time, but incredibly impressive nonetheless.

Comment:  More please.  An epic whisky, and surely something that will be talked about in hushed tones in years to come.

Customer Reviews:
I have a carefully selected collection of over 80 whisky's in my collection and 'Scott's 1964 Lochside' ranks in the my top 5 of all time favourites. It is simply one of the most quaffable, silky smooth single malts you would ever wish to savour. I was lucky enough to purchase a bottle at a 'Whisky Live' event in London in 2005 and have managed to restrain myself in still having about a third of it left. If you see a bottle of it...do not hesitate to buy it.
