SMWS Tasting Notes
This distillery, based in Alexandria has adjustable rectifiers in some of the stills allowing a range of styles to be produced and this example is the heavily-peated end. It is the colour of lemon gold from a refill barrel. The neat nose has sesame oil, a touch of vinegar, saki and straw stuck up a sooty chimney. Once reduced it has charcoal and brimstone against iced caramels. The taste is lively, assertive and quite complex; old puffers (as in boats!), smoke from burning flowers, parma violets, sweet toffees and heather ale. A bit of a lad this one, definitely in your face.
