Imperial 1981 / 25 Year old
Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky
Douglas Laing's Platinum Selection is a range that has yet to disappoint and has thrown up some real gems recently. Many of the releases have been outstanding, which is a good sign for this Imperial. This Speysider is usually pretty spicy and often has a delicious sherried edge.

Imperial

.
Imperial has had something of a stop-start history.  It was founded in the town of Carron in central Speyside in 1897 by Thomas Mackenzie, who also had a share in both Talisker and Dailuaine (Carron's other distillery).  Imperial was initally built as a second distillery for Dailuaine, and the name 'Imperial' was to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, which occurred the same year.

Tasting Notes:

Bottler's Tasting Notes

"Upon warming, the nose becomes richly fruited, revealing bran and tobacco tones alongside a lingering cigar box aroma.  The light weighted body leads to a palate full of fruit compote, dried peel and warming dessert spices, its late palate being particularly rich, interesting, inviting and more-ish.  The lingering finish is heavily spiced, like burnt cinnamon, still tobacco'ed"
