Douglas Laing have released an enormous number of Port Ellens since the Old Malt Cask series was created at the turn of the millennium. This particular example is unusual as it's from a sherry butt and was bottled in clear glass so we can all see its lovely colour.

Nose:  Richly fruited in tandem with sea-air saltiness.

Palate:  Leasthery, spiced, saline yet sweet.

Finish:  Spicily fruited, oaky and warmly peated.
