I don't care what Jim Murray says about Mortlach, but this is a very fine dram. Not overly sherried and scholate sweet like so many sherried malts. There is a nice oaky and fruity palate and silky parfume like vanilla (and maybe some truffle oil) finish. Amazing nose too.

Great, old fashioned dram with plenty of flavour and a malty kick - taste the spirit, not the cask, once in a while.

Maybe it's me. But can someone explain why I pick up truffle oil on the palate. I love this malt with a medium to full body cigar. seems to bring out creamy and sweet notes. Tom D
