Aged for seven years in Matusalem's Solera system, this is a welcome addition to the popular Matusalem range. The company has an interesting history, having been founded in Cuba in 1872 but then being forced to flee to the Dominican Republic following the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

nice clean tasting rum. there not a lot going on with regard to complexity but i like it a lot. You cant have a favourite rum as they are all so different. sweet clean and smooth.By the way its not a 7 year old rum its rum upto and including 7 year old blended in a solera until the master blender is happy that the barrell is ready for bottling.

Not sure it's really 7 years old but rather in a 7 year Solera system which isn't the same thing. Still age is not everything by some margin. I believe Matusalem flavour their rums with a "secret formula" made of macerated dried fruits and the like. I think that this fact has remained unnoticed for so long by so many is actually a great compliment to the makers art. Tastes WONDERFUL in a Cuba Libre which is produces a fruity note I'e not had in another other rums.
