My ex work place in Sydney had a bottle of this (amongst many more) and my god is it amazing. It smells like a really good rum and tastes like no tequila I have ever had before or since. I wish I could afford a bottle and one day I will get one, I swear. If you have the cash, buy this. It's worth it if you're a tequila fan.
Sat with the owner & maker Manuel in my Mexican place in Shanghai recently, a fantastic humble man, he told me his father even used to make gin back in Mexico.. The 12 yrs aged Historico has a wonderful nose, is rounded and a nice long finish with good fat/oil content and nice spice notes. Leave the empty glass standing for a while and sniff the glass again, the wood spices show a character not to dissimilar to church incense. Look out for periodical releases of this product.
if you like this one you must try the XO which has been aged for 12 years!
The Don Julio 42 was my favorite until this one blew it out of the water! While it is twice the price, it is 3 times the flavor. You've got to try it. You will not be disappointed.
