Product Description
A wheat vodka from the Cognac region (a la Citadelle), this has been distilled nine (yes, nine...) times in copper Alambic stills and is micro-oxygenated after distillation for extra refinement. Micro-oxygenation means blowing lots of tiny bubbles through liquid and is a process more usually employed by First-Growth Bordeaux. There's been a buzz about this vodka, so we thought we'd try it - scroll down for our tasting notes. One of the first ever certified Kosher vodkas.

Tasting Notes by TF
Nose
An alluring light citrus nose - a real surprise as I normally can only smell spirit when I nose vodka. Develops peppery notes. Floral and fragrant, grassy. Impressive and very promising.
Palate
Remarkable. Not sure if I can trust my tastebuds - is this real?? I'm sure I can taste coconut in this. Not horrible, sickly Malibu coconut - light, delicate, proper coconut. There's definitely a suggestion of aniseed too. The spirit itself is extremely smooth, rounded and clearly well-made. I'm not a vodka man, but I could definitely drink this. Now that I smell it again, I can't believe I didn't notice the coconut on first nosing. I never thought I'd say this, but this vodka is actually delicious.
Finish
Elegant and subtle. The aniseed hint becomes stronger and seems to last the longest.
Comment
I've been guilty of looking down my nose at vodka on occasion - the sheer ennui of the constant stream of More New Vodka is a standing joke in the industry, and it does get to you. But this is different. Without a doubt this has been the most interesting and thought-provoking unflavoured vodka I've had. And in the current context of ultra-premium bling vodka pricing, forty quid suddenly looks relatively cheap. I'm still not sure why they called it XO, though.
