This is a staple buy for my girlfriend and I whenever we find a good offer on it (£30 standard on some sites if you catch them at the right time). An amazingly smooth, yet subtly complex rum for the price (over the last few years, we've been lucky enough to build a collection of 57 rums - so far - and find this to be an amazing all-rounder for the price. It's nice on its own, or a large one with an ice cube is also really good after a heavy meal. However, we've found that its true strength lies in its abilities to upgrade, or smoothen cocktails, or sometimes be used as a replacement for a whiskey/whisky in a cocktail (it makes a great Old Fashioned, and you can swap the Angostura bitters for orange bitters for really nice change). Versatile, smooth, and a brilliant "beginner's" rum that you'll keep coming back to.
I bought this a few months ago as it was being advertised as a 12 year old rum but it clearly isn't and a recent american lawsuit proves this to be the case, Very disappointed in the liquid and the false advertising that came with it. The fact that now all Flor de cana rums have had their aged statement claims taken off the whisky exchange website speaks volume
This is an amazing rum! If you are looking for a gift to someone, this is the right choice. Great aroma and smooth taste! Loved it. beautiful bottle also. Excellent for cocktails!
