This single malt is one of the better ones I have tried as I have been experimenting with McLellan, Oban, Glen Fidditch. A very smooth taste with the hint of orange, chocolate with a little bit of smoke. I will be enjoying this over Memorial Day... Posted By: Brian from Tacoma, WA

Qunita Ruban just won BEST OF SHOW at the 2009 Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition

SMOKE, SMOKE, never in a million years does this have smoke. Your to near the fire drinking this stunning whisky. Dark chocolate and mint more like. One of my all time favorites. I love this whisky even if its a wee bit pricey. Well worth the money. Posted By: D.Scott.

This scotch is finished in wood casks previously used to make port wine. The sweet port lends a fantastic aroma and a very subtle flavor enhancement that pushes the tasting experience up a notch or two. After one sip, you will realize that the next glass you pour will need to be reserved for a special occasion. This scotch is a speical treat.

This has been my favourite since tasting it a few months ago. Stunning but unique. It's just so hard to find in duty frees in asia, except for hong kong Posted By: Peter

Not a bad dram (but not as good as an 18year old Bowmore). Disappointed that there is no indication of age on the label or packaging. It would be nice to know how long it had spent in the respective woods ... unless of course it is just an ordinary 10 year old GM with some flavouring added!! Posted By: Johnny Walker

I bought it in a rush in Singapore Duty Free and am consuming it as I write. Occasion to celebrate my son's promotion. Just great and smooth. Will remember the occasion and the Glenmorangie. Posted By: Richard - Subang

Had friends over for dinner last night, and shared my latest discovery with them after the meal. It was a first time experience for my guests and all agreed that this is the best whisky that they had ever tasted. An age indication would be nice, but it does not detract from this truly great whisky. It is so smoooth!! Posted By: Brian - Brisbane, Australia

A profoundly delicious whisky. This is my first experience of a Port-finished malt (besides The Dalmore 1263 but that's matured in just about everything under the sun) and if the Balvenie 21yo exceeds this when I manage to track one down then it shall be quite a dram indeed. Incredible value, too, in my opinion. Posted By: James Saxon

I liked this so much that this was the first time I ever bought a case of any whisky. I still have three bottles left, but don't expect them to last too much longer. Highly recommended, especially for the price. Posted By: Cosmic Bob

I have never even liked whisky before but was only tempted to try quinta ruban as it was a particular favourite of my partners and it would have been rude to refuse and let him drink alone!!! I am glad I did as the experience was wonderful. So smooth and delicate and warming. An evening tipple I look forward to trying again if I'm ever asked. Posted By: Jan

I received my bottle as a gift for a job I did for my brother-in-law's employer. I'd been eyeing this at my local reseller for a few months, and hadn't decided between this and it's sister (La Santa) finish. What an absolutely enrapturing dram. I've long favored the "regular" Glenmorangie 10Yr, and this proves that their efforts to uplift their market name pushes past naysayers. Enjoy it, savor it. I know I will be back for a Quinta Ruban once more. Posted By: Marcelo L ( Florida )

Tasting Notes:

Producer's Tasting Notes

Aroma: One sniff and you’re immediately transported to a traditional Christmas dinner party, in a candle-lit dining room with the aroma of just-peeled mandarin oranges and Belgian chocolate mint crisps. Walnut shells have been thrown on the roaring fire where their scent mixes with the lingering aroma of nutmeg from the Christmas pudding and the warm, musky scent of sandalwood that emanates from the wood-panelled room

Now add a splash of water for the party to move to the sitting room where icing sugar-dusted pink cubes of rose-scented Turkish Delight sit on a silver tray next to old-fashioned, mint fondants, crystallised orange segments and candied peel.  On a side table, a vase of honeysuckle and geranium lends a clear, aromatic pungency to the air

Taste: A caress of silk velvet on the tongue gives way to a swathe of rich, dark chocolate-enrobed walnuts leaving in their wake the lemony-rose jelly texture of Turkish delight. Then sugar-coated crystallised orange segments emerge, countered by crisp mint chocolate, adding a chiffon like texture

Finish: Lingering memories of dark minty chocolate with the effervescence of orange

Glenmorangie

 Glenmorangie Distillery

Glenmorangie has existed as a distillery since 1843 when William Matheson bought a license to make whisky on the site of a brewery located near the Tarlogie Springs in Ross-shire in the highlands of Scotland.  Matheson bought two second-hand gin stills to make his spirit, and the distillery is famous for having the tallest stills in Scotland, although these days there are eight stills rather than just two (with more to come), and Bruichladdich claim that their stills are taller.
