Body
Full bodied and concentrated, give it time – its worth the wait!
Nose
The first thing that leaps out at you is the rich maple syrup sweetness, you can almost smell the viscosity……then a sprinkling of cocoa powder inviting you in. At 37 years this dram still holds its strength but in a most sophisticated way, imagine Grace Kelly, timeless and elegant. Delving in deeper there are marzipan and almond notes but then to my delight pecan pie - I want to eat this with a spoon!
Palate
There is some heat initially which is surprising for a dram of this age but its lovely, giving a cinnamon spiciness after the sweetness on the nose. This falls away to reveal the fruity flavours - dried apple and apricot, banana and sultana’s. A real treat.
Finish
Amazing length and texture, the oiliness is superb and 46% at 37 years old? All I can say is Wow!
