Balblair 1975 / Sherry
Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky
A follow-up to the wildly successful 1979, this new release is a bottling of 100% sherry casks. We are delighted that this previously-overlooked distillery is now attracting serious attention. It's incredible what a bit of marketing spend and some snazzy packaging can achieve when the stuff in the bottle is this good.

Tasting Notes:

Tasting Notes by TF

Obvious sherry influence on the nose with dried fruit and muscovado very evident.

Full, generous palate, with old fruitcake, syrup, ginger and cake spice.  Very smooth and silkily-textured, with a long, luxurious, sweet & spicy finish.  Very appealing, another good job done by Inver House.

[Tasted at Whisky Live London 2008]

Producer's Tasting Notes

A superbly balanced malt with warm spicy aromas.  Hints of raisins and toffee are present from the long years of maturation in Spanish Sherry oak casks.  Slight traces of honey and green apples can be detected, adding to the complexity of this exceptional vintage.

On the palate, it is rich and creamy to start, with traces of chocolate, leading to a long, lingering and smooth finish.
