SMWS Tasting Notes
With exceptionally small stills, and picturesquely located close to the Balmoral estate, a visit to this distillery makes a pleasant afternoon. An aged example from a re-fill hogshead, this whisky is a bright gold, with a slightly sharp initial nose. Through the alcohol there is the aroma of brown sugar and lemons. With water, the lemon theme is continued with lemon sherbert and soap suds. To drink, there is a certain amount of heat on the palate, interpreted by the Panel as ginger. This interesting example also develops a herby character, not unlike Aqua Librae. Aged but full of force.
