Isle of Jura 1992 / 15 Year Old

Nose:  Toffee and digestive biscuits (but fear not, there's no caramel in these bottlings!  Here at TWE we prefer all-natural drams).  Some white pepper, dried-out lawns, nutmeg, butterscotch and honeycomb frolic on an earthy bedrock.

Palate:  Medium-full.  Spicy (cinnamon, chilli powder), woody, fruity (lemon, tangerine) and grassy, with shortbread and toast.  The citrussy notes merge well with the spices mid-palate.

Finish:  Warming and persistent, becoming slightly dry.  Dry earth, lemon juice and tingling spices.

Comment:  A well-balanced dram with plenty of character.  A bit rougher round the edges than distillery bottlings, perhaps due to lack of caramel - and all the better for it.
