A perfect example of what wood-finishing (so often reviled by some) can achieve, Glenmorangie 1981 spent the last two of its 21 years of maturation in casks formerly containing Chateau d'Yquem. A legendary 'Morangie.
I'm not a great highland malt drinker and generally more interested in Islays but in this case I have to say that this stuff is Oh so excellent. It has the flavour of the platonic Christmas cake or some divine jam. Very very good. Bit expensive though.
