N: Smoke and dark chocolate initally, becomes very charcoally, with brine, soot, coal, bonfires and tarry rope also evident. Very little in the way of fruit, although some runner bean notes appear after a few minutes. Opens up with water to reveal some hay / grassy character.
P: Plenty of soot / coal dust and roasted cereals balanced by a slightly honeyed edge. Chilli hotness and a lot of pepper. Some menthol appears mid-palate. The cereals become more honeyed with water, which also lifts the spices.
F: Lengthy, warm, and drying, with the black pepper and honey really lingering and a roasted, mocha-like character appearing towards the death.
C: A very savoury dram with a well-hidden sweet side. Really comes alive with a drop of water.
