Bols Genever
70cl / 42%
A relaunch of an old, old spirit, Genever was the precursor to English gins, as well as being the origin of the phrase 'Dutch Courage'. This is a totally authentic and unique drink that should be tried by anyone with an interest in gin.

Hi Deborah - first trip to Amsterdam on business about 15 years ago I went into a bar and ordered a beer - barman said 'would you like a Gin with that?'.......what a civilised place the Netherland is......

This is a wonderful drink that is best sipped along with a cooled beer.. The Dutch beer is not gassy like the crap you get here in the UK. The Dutch serve it ice cold so it is like syrup in a little skunar glass which is filled above the brim of the glass creating a bubble! It's gorgeous you must try! It is where the term 'Dutch courage' comes from.

I had some (BOLS Oude Genever) back in 1982, direct from Nederlands. Drank it straight! I can't do that with London Gins.Going to try a bottle from the WEx, to see if it lives up to my memories.I'll let you know the result :-)

This is very odd stuff... I love gin but couldn't drink this at all I am afraid... it went down the sink - I have NEVER done that before or since! OK if you know what you are letting yourself in for but if you a gin fan who fancies a change... hmm.
