Nose: Rich. It smells like a sherry monster! Sweet and sticky with raisin, dates, lots of brown sugar, prune, spice- Cinnamon, spicy oak. Developing some fig, orange liqueur, toffee apple, very old apple brandy?, apple cider, leather, dusty leather armchair, old undisturbed room, good quality absinthe. Going back to juicier fruit now with blueberry. Water: The fruitiness really asserts itself. Prune and fig stewing with warm spices and some bread and butter pudding. Raisins soaked in very old rum or brandy or cognac, why not all three? The Madeira then becomes more apparent with good quality dark chocolate. Taste: Rich, spicy, tastes sherried. Creamy arrival, huge swelling sweetness with rich brown sugar, orange liqueur, raisin, dates, receeding with spicy oak, mouth watering. Water: More creamy, then more oak and the spices! Oh, they''re perfectly integrated with a delicious fruitiness! A syrupy sweetness too, oh GOD! Find me another! Finish: Long. The Medeira strikes! A fruity youthful Medeira then warm spices linger with the oak creeping back out. Notes: The oldest Penderyn ever? Not a trace of youth. Utterly brilliant. 90/100

a favourite of mine and was well worth the visit to the distillery for a tasting...the peated is the closest to a colapsed scrum you will ever taste ;-)
I'm sorry but people who ask if its a joke and say its too pricey should maybe stick to teachers. A very delightful whisky indeed
No joke. This was awarded 96 points in the 2009 Whisky bible[one the top twenty in the world] and is sold out at from the distillery. It's successor, a single cask portwood, is European single cask whisky of the year and also rated 96 points.
