March '10 26th Friday
Spring is in the air, the clocks are going back this weekend, and all's well in the world because we've got a super-abundance of pretty amazing new indie bottlings!  Just look - we've got a brace of Bunnas, a couple of Caol Ilas, a group of grains and, er...okay, enough of that.  Feast your eyes on these goodies, we're totally spoiling you this week.

A long-aged malt from Balmenach, a workhorse distillery bought by Inver House from United Distilleries in the late 1990s. Almost all of Balmenach's output goes into Inver House blends such as Hankey Bannister. This 1984 vintage expression has been bottled by Signatory at full strength.

A long-aged 25yo Glenburgie 1983 from Signatory, bottled at full strength from a single hogshead. Glenburgie is very rarely seen as most of the production goes into the Ballantine's blend, so this is a treat.

Douglas Laing
Always good to see a bottle of Glen Mhor, which was little-known in its lifetime and is now demolished, with the site now occupied by a supermarket. This 1982 vintage is from Douglas Laing for the Old Malt Cask series.

March '10 19th Friday

Just a few little things this week...  OK, who are we kidding - LOOK AT THIS LOT!

In amongst the oldest whisky ever bottled and the ancient Dalmore Selene, we've Bunnahabhain's bottling of their heavily-peated spirit, a couple of Port Ellens and a cheeky little Islay single malt bottled for our 10th Anniversary from a very famous distillery (no, we can't say which one).

The Whisky Exchange
A cask-strength mystery Islay single malt whisky, from a south-coast distillery very rarely available as an independent bottling, this has been bottled by TWE to celebrate our 10th Anniversary online. Huzzah! Young and briny, with strong coal notes, a creamy edge and hints of smoked kippers.

Distillery Bottling
After a string of highly-regarded indie peated Bunnahabhains, the distillery has finally released an official version of their heavily-peated malt. Toiteach is Gaelic for Smoky, and apparently there's some sherry influence on this as well. Kudos to Burn Stewart for bottling this unchilfiltered at 46%.

A marriage of two Dalmore casks filled on the same day in 1951, Selene has been bottled after nearly six decades of ageing in the darkest of the distillery's warehouses, and named after the Titan goddess of the moon. This Linkwood 1973 is fantastic, if we do say so ourselves. Bottled from one of the best bourbon casks you could ever hope to encounter at an incredible 36 years of age, yet the oak never overwhelms the superb sweet fruitiness of the malt. Utterly delicious.
