Diageo Managers Choice - Final Release

Yes they're finally here.  And we probably won't see their like again in the foreseeable future, so if you do want one, don't dally.  The Clynelish and Glenlossie are from lower-yielding bourbon barrels, so we've had to make them one per person.  Good luck!

Since the demise of the original Singleton range, official bottlings of Auchroisk are rarer than talented X-Factor wannabes - we reckon that this 1999 Managers' Choice cask strength ex-sherry 9yo might be only the third OB we've had in recent times, alongside the Flora & Fauna bottling and a Rare Malts version. At 60.6%, this will be one for the sherry monsters out there.

Benrinnes is another Diageo distillery of which very little is seen. Most of the malt produced at Benrinnes is used as blend fodder, so it's great to see a debut single cask bottling to sit alongside the Flora & Fauna version and 2009's acclaimed Special Release 23yo.

A 13yo single cask Glendullan bottled at full strength for the Managers' Choice series. Glendullan is another distillery we didn't see much of on this side of the pond, but malt from what is one of Diageo's larger distilleries has recently emerged in the US under the Singleton banner. Interestingly, this is marked as having come from a rejuvenated cask - kudos to Diageo for this extra snippet of clarity.

In 1974 Glenlossie was one of only 12 distilleries rated in the highest category by whisky blenders, and their enthusiasm for the malt has meant that only around 1% of the distillery's output is kept for single malt, so this 9yo full-strength 1999 bottled for Diageo's Managers' Choice will likely be highly sought-after, particularly as only 204 bottles were yielded from the cask. MAXIMUM 1 BOTTLE PER PERSON.

Lagavulin is probably Diageo's most highly-rated distillery, with its muscular peaty presence and flashes of honey sending most of the cognoscenti into a swoon. This 15yo from 1993 is probably the most eagerly-awaited of the Managers' Choice series, particularly as it's one of only a handful of sherried single cask Lagavulins ever released.

Please note this is limited to 2 bottles per customer.

Blended from the Hot Irishman company's three best casks in the cellar, this rare Irish blended whiskey is highly unusual in being bottled at its natural cask strength. Ledaig has an unenviable reputation, so this 2005 sherry cask from BBR will probably gather dust on the shelves - a terrible pity as it's actually rather amazing. Lipsmacking fruity sherry influence on the palate, with sweet, peppery peat & a pleasant menthol finish, and even at 62.7% it's a pleasure to sip neat. Peated Tobermory has no right to be this good; hats off to BBR for unearthing this low-key classic. Open-minded peat fans will be handsomely rewarded for taking a punt on this.
