More very interesting new releases: we're blessed this week. You'd think that everyone had started rolling out the big guns as there's only three months to Christmas or something. Oh, wait - has it really started already? Help! Special mention to Dun Bheagan for a pair of very interesting releases from Rosebank and St. Magdalene and to Douglas Laing for their new vatted islay malt, Big Peat. The fact that BP is extremely drinkable AND sensibly priced should take Big Peat into the stratosphere, even though the chap on the label looks like he's feeling the effects of a dodgy curry.

A new range of releases from Diageo, The Manager's Choice is a series of single cask bottlings with one expression from each distillery owned by the company. This is the first tranche of six bottlings, with familiar faces such as Cardhu and Oban lining up alongside the less well-known Teaninich and Linkwood, whose only 'normal' bottlings are as part of the Flora & Fauna range.

Congratulations to Anthony Wills and all at Kilchoman - all their hard work has paid off in spectacular style, with this release one of the most-requested of the year - we've been fielding calls and emails about it for over six months. Typically uncompromising on quality, this release was originally planned to be a larger batch blended with a mix of sherry-finished and bourbon hogshead barrels, but on tasting the vatted sherry-finish stock it was decided that this was too good on its own, so there are therefore rather fewer available. A further release is expected in November. Slainte!
