A string of new releases from Bladnoch this week, with the exciting inclusion of an 8yo - made entirely with the new spirit distilled since Raymond Armstrong recommenced operations at the distillery that many thought was gone for good. As well as the annual Bell's Christmas Decanter - yes, they still make them - and a rather smart set of Springbank quarter-bottles, we also have two very special TWE bottlings for you!
The first is the latest addition to our award-winning Elements of Islay range. Following the remarkable success of Pe1, which sold out in only a few weeks, we've brought forward the newest release - the splendid Br1. This single malt hails from a prolific distillery with a tendency towards augmenting the character of its spirit by re-racking into wine barrels - however, we think that this Br1 release is ACE all by itself: as with the rest of the Elements range, we've married our casks together to create a malt that we feel truly represents the character of this great distillery.
The other new release from TWE this week is the second of our celebratory 10th Anniversary bottlings - a very special Longmorn 1969. This single cask 39 year-old has been bottled from a single refill sherry butt at full cask strength especially for us by our friends at Gordon & Macphail and shows an extraordinary intensity of sherry-oak flavours alongside the citrussy complexity that characterises Longmorn, one of our favourite Speyside distilleries.
Finally, we have a trio of 'others', this week including a sherry-matured Yamazaki, a Berry Bros. St. Magdalene and the latest Port Ellen from Douglas Laing. Slainte!
