Blended Scotch Whisky
The Tweeddale blend is an old brand last produced over 70 years ago and now resurrected by the great-grandson of the previous producer. This is a high malt content (50%) blend bottled at 46% and was a big hit at 2010's Whisky Show.

Author: Dominic Roskrow
A very smart and hugely readable journey through well-known whisky writer Dominic Roskrow's favourite drams, this large tome has been very well produced and put together and deserves to grace any thinking whisky drinker's coffee table.

The Whisky Agency
A bottling of long-aged Banff 1975 single bourbon cask from indie bottlers The Whisky Agency, with their rather cool labels. This one features some sort of cute bird. Extra brownie points for anyone who can tell us what it is before this sells out.

Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A cask strength Bowmore 1999 from our posh chums at Berry Brothers & Rudd, who in their capacity as wine merchants to the toffs are probably looking forward to a pretty tasty order sometime before 29th April 2011 when a certain balding heir to the Big Chair ties the knot.

Corn Whiskey
A very interesting whisky, the first to be legally distilled in Texas, made from blue corn (not sure what that is, but it sounds impressive) and, remarkably, being the recipient of a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Definitely one to watch.

Please note this is limited to 1 bottle per customer.

American Single Malt Whiskey
Another in the exciting new wave of American whiskies from small distilleries in places that don't normally make whiskey. This is American single malt, made with locally-malted barley, distilled on what looks on their website very like a column still (which isn't allowed here anymore for some stupid reason), and aged in new toasted American barrels.

NO, you're not seeing things, and NO, it's not a misprint. Somehow, this Glengoyne 1972 has survived THIRTY-SEVEN years in a refill sherry cask...and emerged at a mind-boggling 63.5% alcohol! What strength did it go in at? And where was it kept, Japan??

The Whisky Agency
A single cask bottling from The Whisky Agency of Glen Grant from 1973, in the middle of what many consider to be this magnificent distillery's heyday. Early 1970s sherry casks from Glen Grant seem to be uniformly of the utmost quality.

A very long-aged 1975 hogshead from the very little-seen Glenlossie, Diageo's blend-fodder Speyside workhorse. Most of Glenlossie's output goes to the Haig blend, so well done to The Whisky Agency for unearthing this one.

Probably the oldest Hanyu yet to reach these shores, this 23 year old has been bottled at a whopping 58% abv, but remains quite approachable even at full strength. An evident sherry presence on the palate, without being domineering, and some delicious tropical fruits on the finish.

Japanese Blended Malt Whisky

A smooth, appley Japanese blended malt, almost certainly comprised of Hanyu & Chichibu (where it was matured, vatted and bottled). In a move that will likely enrage the more pernickety of the lickspittle jobsworths at the SWA, this has included the supposedly-not-allowed-anymore 'pure malt' term on its label. Naughty!

More goodies, including two new releases from Speciality Drinks' Anniversary Selection, the older of which is one of a pair of amazing Glen Grants new this week - the other being the superb 1972 sherried version released at the Whisky Show 2010 (and recently rated 92 points by Serge Valentin on Whiskyfun).  We've also got the latest TWE bottling - a bourbon cask Longmorn 1978 bottled for our new Masterpieces range, which has already been selling fast.

Also this week, we have a gorgeous sherried Tamdhu, the latest Talisker DE, the newly-relaunched Drambuie 15yo (which is excellent) and the long-awaited anniversary bottlings from Compass Box.   Some really top whiskies coming out now as Christmas draws ever closer.
