A 1980 vintage whisky from Dallas Dhu, since closed and turned into a museum of distilling, from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Distilled in February of that year and matured for 18 years it has kept an incredibly high strength of 65.1%, which makes one wonder at what strength it went into the cask...
A lovely old mid-1990s Connoisseurs Choice bottling of Port Ellen from the not-often-seen 1980 vintage. Anything from Port Ellen bottled at less than twenty years old is quite rare these days, so this is a bit of a find.
A mid-1990s independent bottling of whisky from this much sought after closed distillery. It was distilled a few years before closure and matured for 16 years before release as part of Direct Wines's First Cask range.
A single cask bottling sherry cask matured Highland Park bottled in commemoration of a visit from Maxxium UK to the distillery. Distilled on 16th October 1980 and selected on Thursday 31st of May ready for bottling on its 21st birthday.
A legendary Ardbeg, Kildalton was a one-off bottling (1300 bottles released in 2004) of some experimental unpeated and lightly peated whiskies made at the distillery in 1980. It is known that these experiments ran from 1979-81, but while a 1981 Kildalton mini appeared in the Ardbeg Peat Pack a few years ago the 1979 vintage has yet to see the light of day. Fingers crossed they haven't lost it or used it in any of their other bottlings.
A relatively young entry in Glenlivet's much vaunted Cellar Collection, distilled in 1980 and bottled 'only' about 31 years later. Initial reports have been excellent for this whisky, with praise splurging across the internet, and we're rather pleased to have grabbed a few bottles.
An independent release of single cask Bowmore, distilled in August 1980 and bottled in July 2004 at cask strength. What's more, it comes with a rather nifty replica copper still decanter, embossed with a name plate featuring the bottle number.
