For this Linkwood 1981, 12 yo malt that had been matured in traditional casks was transferred to sweet red wine casks for a further 14 years. Something of a departure for Diageo's Special Releases, releasing three malts from the same distillery in 50cl bottles.
A well aged whisky from Glenlivet, bottled at 32 years of age by Signatory as part of their Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on December 18, matured in a single hogshead and bottled on February 13 2014.
A 1981 vintage whisky from Lochside, closed in 1992 and demolished in 2005, bottled by Gordon & Macphail for their Connoisseurs Choice range back in the days when they still used their old 'Map Label' livery.
The tenth cask bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky from Lochside distillery in the Highlands. This was distilled in May 1981 and bottled 20 years later in June 2001. The distillery sadly closed in 1992 and bottlings are increasingly sought after.
A bottle of 1981 vintage North Port (aka Brechin) from independent bottlers Duncan Taylor. This was released as part of their Rarest of the Rare series, for bottlings from now closed distilleries. North Port closed a couple of years after this was distilled, in 1983, and as such bottlings are becoming increasingly hard to find.
A punchy yet well aged example of whisky from distillery 25, according to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society's numbering scheme. This was distilled at closed Lowlander Rosebank in April 1981 and was bottled 21 years later in August 2002.
