The 1997 vintage of Lagavulin's Distillers Edition bottled in 2013. By far the most popular of the Distiller's Edition series this double matured Lagavulin has had a finishing period in sweet, sticky Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. A whisky that never disappoints.
A 1997 vintage Clynelish from independent bottlers Gordon & Macphail as part of their Cask Strength series. The whiskies produced at this distillery are matured mainly in either the on site warehouses, or the ones over the road which used to belong to Brora distillery.
A Signatory bottling of 15 year old Glenlivet, released as part of the Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on November 6th 1997, matured in a sherry butt and bottled on October 24th 2013, a fortnight shy of its 16th birthday.
After the runaway success of 2007's first bottling, hopes were high for version 2.0 - so we were delighted to find another stunner. This is less sweet and more sooty and savoury than the first batch. A triumph, again.
The latest incarnation of the yearly cask strength 'unpeated' Caol Ila produced as part of Diageo's Special Releases selection. This time it's been aged for 14 years in ex-sherry casks, filled in 1997. There's not a lot of sherried Caol Ila out there and this might be our pick of this year's range.
A special bottling for the Springbank Society. This 1997 vintage Longrow was distilled in 1997 and matured for 8 years in a refill sherry butt. Bottled in July 2005 at cask strength and limited to only 630 bottles.
A special Family Cask bottling from Glenfarclas, chosen by the attendees of a special tasting during the 2012 Speyside Whisky Festival and bottled from a refill sherry hogshead later that year as part of range's tenth release.
An eleven year-old Clynelish 1997 bottled at cask strength from a single first-fill bourbon cask - something tells us this could be one of the more popular releases from the last batch of Diageo's Managers Choice bottlings. MAXIMUM 1 BOTTLE PER PERSON.
A single 1997 European Sherry Oak cask of Caol Ila chosen to represent the distillery in the cask strength Managers' Choice range from Diageo. This is only the second ever single cask Caol Ila released by Diageo after the wonderful Feis Ile bottling in 2009 (also a sherry cask, coincidentally).
This bottling was released especially for members of the Ardbeg Committee (the free to join distillery club). A 6 year old, this was the first release entirely using spirit distilled since the distillery reopened in 1997. The idea was that comments were welcomed from the committee, hence the 'For Discussion...' branding.
