A 1997 vintage Dufftown from independent bottlers Signatory as part of their Cask Strength Collection. This was distilled in the year Grand Metropolitan and the distillery's then owners, Guinness, merge to create Diageo.
The 1997 vintage of Lagavulin's Distillers Edition bottled in 2013. By far the most popular of the Distiller's Edition series this double matured Lagavulin has had a finishing period in sweet, sticky Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. A whisky that never disappoints.
A Signatory bottling of 16 year old Glenlivet, released as part of the Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on 6 November 1997, matured in a sherry butt and bottled on 1 July 2014, yielding 589 bottles.
A 1997 vintage Benriach bottled as part of the distillery's 11th batch of single cask releases. This was aged for 16 years, including a finishing period in a marsala cask before 412 bottles were yielded in July 2014.
Please note this is limited to one bottle per customer.
Another outstanding single cask cask-strength Bowmore from Signatory. Just about everything in this 'Cask Strength Collection' series has been very good and several have been exceptional. Distilled on June 13 1997 and aged for 16 years in hogsheads 1916 and 1917, this was bottled on February 19 2014.
A heavily peated whisky from Bunnahabhain, better known for bucking the trend on Islay and producing unpeated spirit. Fortunately they also make a cracking smoky dram, like this one bottled by Signatory at cask strength at 16 years old - distilled on 11 December 1997, matured in a hogshead and bottled on 2 July 2014.
The latest incarnation of the yearly cask strength 'unpeated' Caol Ila produced as part of Diageo's Special Releases selection. This time it's been aged for 14 years in ex-sherry casks, filled in 1997. There's not a lot of sherried Caol Ila out there and this might be our pick of this year's range.
After the runaway success of 2007's first bottling, hopes were high for version 2.0 - so we were delighted to find another stunner. This is less sweet and more sooty and savoury than the first batch. A triumph, again.
Long known to blenders as a category 'A' malt, Balblair is a terrific malt whisky worthy of far greater exposure than it has previously enjoyed. Relaunched in 2007 as a series of vintage expressions, and repositioned as a premium product, this unsung hero is now finally getting the attention and respect it deserves. This is a young Highland malt from the top drawer.
A special bottling for the Springbank Society. This 1997 vintage Longrow was distilled in 1997 and matured for 8 years in a refill sherry butt. Bottled in July 2005 at cask strength and limited to only 630 bottles.
