During a trip to Pitlochry in April 2013 we spent an afternoon with the whisky experts at Signatory, trying some single casks from their incredible stocks. After careful examination of many fantastic whiskies we chose a few that exemplified what we look for in a dram - distillery character, flavoursome cask influence and excellent balance.
The result is this selection of single casks, bottled by Signatory and exclusively available from The Whisky Exchange.

A sherry cask release of 1984 vintage Caol Ila, bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange by the fine folks at Signatory. This was an easy "yes" when selecting which casks we would bottle with Signatory - soft peat, rich sherry, lots of fruit and excellent balance.

A single cask bottling of 1998 vintage Laphroaig, one of a small range of excellent casks chosen by TWE and bottled by Signatory. This whisky is a fantastic slap in the face, with huge sherry notes combined with big Laphroaig peat and intense flavour thanks to its high natural strength. A must for sherry heads.

A single cask bottling of 1988 vintage Balmenach, hand picked by The Whisky Exchange and bottled by Signatory at 25 years of age. While you don't see many whiskies from this distillery, this one was a must pick as soon as we tried it - classic bourbon cask whisky, well-aged and packed with flavour.

A single cask release of 1995 vintage Clynelish, chosen by us here at TWE and bottled by our friends at Signatory. The distillery has long been a favourite of our team and this cask jumped out as a perfect example of why - fruity and rich with a touch of spice, a great marriage of sherry cask and Clynelish's spirit.

A single cask 2006 vintage Edradour, selected by The Whisky Exchange in early 2013 and bottled by the distillery at 7 years of age. While visiting the distillery we tried a number of their single casks and were shocked at the depth of flavour they'd manage to get into this dram in such a short amount of time - fresh and zesty with a solid oloroso sherry wood backbone.
