After two previous highly successful events in 2009 & 2010, last year saw The Whisky Exchange push our Whisky Show concept forward with a new premium whisky tasting event.  The inaugural Whisky Exchange Whisky Show was held in Vinopolis, near London's famous Borough Market, on 7th-8th October 2011, and was a huge success.  We will be returning to Vinopolis in October 2012 for a new, expanded version of The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show.

The new TWE Whisky Show sticks to the same principles that made our previous events so successful by focusing on the premium whiskies in each exhibitor's portfolios.  This year, we have introduced a couple of changes that we feel will enhance our visitors' enjoyment of the Show still further.

  • The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show 2012 is being expanded to three days, with consumer sessions on Saturday & Sunday and a separate trade event on the Monday to avoid any overflow between the consumer and trade sessions.

  • For 2012 we are also expanding space for our exhibitors to impress, with large format stands in Vinopolis’s Mezzanine transforming this beautiful space into an exciting whisky wonderland.

  • In addition, following the massive success of 2011’s expanded Food-Pairing area, this year Food-Pairing will take up the entirety of Vinopolis's beautiful Academia room. For 2012, this atmospheric space will contain no fewer than TEN stalls featuring innovative food matches designed by whisky & food expert Martine Nouet, using some of London’s finest produce.  Expect great whiskies matched with a variety of cheese, chocolate and much more.

  • The Ultra-Premium Dram concept from previous Whisky Shows continues.  On arrival, all visitors will receive a Dream Dram token which can be exchanged for some of the greatest whiskies from our exhibitors' ranges.  Customers will also be able to buy Bonus Dream Dram tokens, with the money collected from these extra tokens going back to exhibitors after the Show.

  • As in previous events, there will be no voucher system at The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show - all exhibited samples are free with our all-inclusive ticket.  In addition, each visitor will receive a hearty two-course meal in the Show Brasserie – this year located in Vinopolis’s atmospheric Gallery area, away from the hustle & bustle of the Show - and can sample delicious cocktails and all the lip-smacking food pairings completely free of charge.

  • We will also be continuing to stage some of the most exclusive and ambitious Masterclasses ever seen in the UK, with themed tastings and amazing old bottlings alongside some of the rarest and most expensive whiskies from several blue-chip distilleries.

  • Tickets for Masterclasses will go on sale nearer the event.  Masterclass tickets are sold separately and may only be attended by Show ticketholders.

  • All products exhibited at the Show will be available to purchase on the day from The Whisky Exchange's permanent retail shop in Vinopolis.

As organisers, we will be sticking to our Etiquette Guidelines from previous Shows to ensure that all our guests have an enjoyable event. The following policy has been put in place by the event organisers for the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the show. By buying a ticket for The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show, you agree to abide by these common-sense Guidelines which have been designed to ensure a convivial, safe environment for everyone at the Show.

•  The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show unequivocally promotes and encourages responsible drinking by all visitors to the Show
•  The legal drinking age in the UK is 18 years old. The Show Organisers may ask for proof of ID from any guests whom they believe to be underage.
•  The Show is all about fine whisky, education, fun and enjoyment – not excess. In this respect, the Show believes in quality over quantity.
•  Visitors are strongly encouraged to eat before and during the Show.
•  All visitors are entitled to a two course meal included in the price of the ticket.
•  There will also be opportunities to match samples of food with different whiskies.
•  As well as eating, visitors are encouraged to drink plenty of water in between drams and take regular breaks from tasting during the Show.
•  There will be spittoons and free drinking water available on all exhibitor stands and in easily visible locations throughout the venue.
•  As part of their duty of care to the Show’s visitors, exhibitors will not serve anyone whom they believe to have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.
•  Safety Stewards will be on duty at the Show for the help and protection of all visitors and exhibitors.
•  The Stewards will ask anyone who is inebriated or who becomes disruptive or offensive to other visitors or exhibitors to leave the Show.
•  No re-admittance will be granted to anyone who has been asked to leave the Show or who has been removed from the Show for the above reasons.
•  The above guidelines, if followed correctly, should greatly enhance Visitors’ enjoyment of the Show and appreciation of the fine whiskies available on the day.

Please note that following exhibitor complaints at previous events there is a strict sampling policy in place at The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show.

All samples will be poured by exhibitors only into the sample glasses provided and must be consumed at the Show.  It is against Show policy for samples to be poured or transferred into sample bottles and taken away from the venue.

We ask that all Show Visitors familiarise themselves with the following important sampling policy conditions:

•    Please do not bring empty sample bottles into the venue or transfer samples provided by the exhibitors into any vessel other than the Show tasting glass.  Visitors bringing sample bottles to the Show venue will be asked to dispose of them before entry to the Show is permitted.
•    During the event, any sample bottles or other vessels discovered by Show staff to contain whisky will be confiscated.
•    Any visitor to the Show found in possession of sample bottles (empty or full) during the Show will be asked to leave the venue.
•    Please refrain from soliciting samples from exhibitors to be taken from the venue for consumption elsewhere.  Exhibitors will be asked to report any instances of this activity, and Show staff will ask anyone found to be ignoring this rule to leave the venue.
•    There will be no refunds or re-entry for anyone asked to leave the Show as a result of breaching any of the above conditions.
