While a smaller name in many countries worldwide, Aberlour is the biggest selling single malt in France and is making its presence known with its interesting bottlings.
This 1967 edition is about 40 years old and bottled at 47.9%, perfect for drinking with or without the included local Speyside spring water.
Aberlour was founded in 1879 by secret philanthropist James Fleming in the small village of Charlestown of Aberlour in Speyside. He invested much of the profits from the distillery in the local community, including building a community hall, hospital and bridge over the River Spey. However, he was also a modest man, doing this under a veil of secrecy, with his part in it all only being revealed after his death in 1895.
The included glasses are made by the Cristallerie de Saint-Louis, the oldest glass-maker in France, and the rims are decorated with 24 carat gold. Along with a water jug they all fit snugly into the supplied case for elegant drinking on the move.
