A 1996 vintage Ledaig from independent bottlers Gordon & Macphail as part of their Connoisseurs Choice range, bottled in 2013. Ledaig is the name for peated whisky produced at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.
A 1996 vintage Aberfeldy from independent bottlers Gordon & Macphail bottled as part of their Connoisseurs choice series. Much of the distillery's production is used as a base for the Dewar's range of blended whiskies, for which it is the spiritual home.
A lightly coloured 16 year old whisky from Glenlivet, bottled from a single cask by Signatory for their Un-Chillfiltered Collection. Distilled on May 13th 1996, matured in a first fill sherry butt and bottled on September 27th 2012.
A Connoisseurs Choice bottling of Glen Elgin, one of the key malts in the White Horse blend. Brilliantly, this has been bottled at 46% - previously unusual for Gordon & Macphail's CC range, but hopefully a marker of things to come.
A very fetching bottle of Longmorn from the Nectar of the Daily Dram series. The company has an innovative approach to packaging, with each bottling individually labelled using some really imaginative and modern design - this time it's Stonehenge.
A 1996 vintage Miltonduff from independent bottlers Douglas Laing as part of their Old Particular series. One of the first releases from the range, which was launched in September 2013, this is sweet and fruity.

A single cask whisky from Glentauchers, bottled for the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory. Distilled on February 6th 1996 and bottled exactly 16 years later on February 6th 2012 after maturing in a bourbon barrel.
A 1996 vintage Signatory bottling of whisky from Glenlivet, released as part of the Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on May 13th 1996 and bottled on 30th November 2012, this spent the intervening 16 years in a sherry butt. We assume it was a refill cask, as it's not picked up large amounts of colour, and it marries Glenlivet's elegant spirit with light sherry notes.
A 1996 vintage Arran bottled by Douglas Laing as part of their Old Particular series of bottlings. The distillery had only opened a year before, having been the first legal distillery on the island since 1837.
