Luscious, weighty nose, full of toffee sweetness, citrus, wet hay and freshly dry cleaned shirts. Smoker's fingers, scotch broth, and Chinatown at night (vinegar and white pepper, roast pork, fresh fish, and cleaning products). With water there is a bubblegum sweetness, almost spearminty, and more scented all-purpose cleaners.
Viscous in the mouth (scotch broth again?), pleasantly oily, with absolutely enormous peat and smoke. Nutty and fruity, maybe macadamia and papaya, with the starchy sweetness of fresh cut potatoes. With water there are cashews, credit card plastic, and an earthy peatiness. Slightly drying with smoke and more smoke through the finish. Minutes later I can still taste it and there are coastal elements of sea salt, peat, wet stone, and fish.
Well, good morning, sunshine. Pow! Big, oily, smoky whisky with sweetness and other characteristics to work their magic as well. Water can be used like an EQ with this whisky, adjusting the different frequencies: bringing the sea closer, making the lemon more pronounced, drawing out the sweetness, etc. Islay lovers will find much to enjoy here and peat freaks will relish this stuff straight out of the bottle. Impressive stuff that doesn't mess about.

Colour: pale straw.
Nose: all on lemon, white pepper and peat smoke, with hints of tealeaves and moderate farminess (wet hay, farmyard after the rain – pfff). And apple skin. Rather sharp but beautifully clean. Whiffs of wet stones.
With water: gets chalkier, more maritime and more vegetal as well.
Mouth (neat): big notes of lapsang souchong tea, hints of wasabi, quite some salt, lemon marmalade. Bold mouth feel, almost sort of fat – pleasantly so.
With water: even more peat, hints of kippers and salted liquorice.
Very smoky finish (dry smokiness). Excellent Islayer, exactly what you expect from this kind of ‘label’. 88 points.
Nose: White / lemon pepper, some cereally sweet oat notes of youth.
Palate: Lemon puff biscuits, vanilla and a leafiness. A chalky smokiness, and maybe like barbecued fish at times.
Finish: A lingering, tingling pepperiness.
Comments: Lively, lip-smacking Islay. More good stuff from Sukhinder and his Whisky Exchange gang.

Nose: Once the alcohol flashes off the smoke rushes out along with citrus, freshly cut green grass, oyster shells and a youthful bleachy note.
Palate: Good mix of intense leafy smoke and an oily succulent feel. Melon. Fresh fish. Generous and silky.
Finish: Smoky. Lobster creels.
Comments: Just one of a great clutch of smoky drams this time around.

Nose: Smoke and a pronounced toasted cereal character usually found in younger peated malts. Also grass / wet hay, iodine, some traces of oily smoked fish. A savoury nose.
Palate: Good spicy peat attack. Toffee. Big wave of pepper. Some lovely sweet syrup notes, traces of exotic fruit. The peat is sweet, chewy and very persisitent.
Finish: The peat just doesn't quit. Immensely long, honeyed, peppery and warming.
Comment: Peatheads are unlikely to be disappointed with this. A beauty with an epic finish.
