A young Arran from the 2005 vintage, this single cask bourbon-matured malt is unusual for Arran in that it's been peated. Young, peaty whisky? Pah! It'll never work (joke). Bottled at cask strength in the distillery's smart packaging, we expect this one to fly.
A distillery-bottled vintage expression of blue chip Speysider Glenrothes, distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2005. Vanilla and orange creams on the nose, with a lovely rich, nutty, nougat palate leading to a spicy finish.
An early Arran, distilled the year after the distillery was built, this is showing remarkable maturity for a malt of such tender years. Fruity and biscuity in equal measures, this is a hugely enjoyable dram.
A special bottling for investors in the first triple distilled spirit to be produced on Islay for many years, made at, of course, Bruichladdich. It was filled into bourbon casks at a huge 84.5% and despite plans to bottle it at at least 8 years old has made its way out of the warehouse after only 5.
A bona fide classic, this was from the last batch of Springbank 21yo before it reappeared in 2012 after a hiatus of seven years due to a shortage of aged casks at the distillery. One of the all-time greats.
An experimental 2005 bottling of cask strength Balblair 1992, from a peaty cask, which we're guessing is another way of saying that this is an Islay finish - unless Balblair have been making peaty spirit that we don't know about...
A 1965 vintage whisky from now closed Glen Mhor, a victim of the 1983 spate of distillery closures and now demolished. Bottled by Gordon & Macphail in 2005, this is about 40 years old.
