A young Arran from the 2005 vintage, this single cask bourbon-matured malt is unusual for Arran in that it's been peated. Young, peaty whisky? Pah! It'll never work (joke). Bottled at cask strength in the distillery's smart packaging, we expect this one to fly.

PeculiarLibations that changes this much with the addition of water or ice and are still enjoyable are rare. Some whiskeys die with water. This one goes schizoid. The bourbon edges scream (pleasantly) straight; but with water they meld with the rest of the aromas then disappear with ice. Chocolate and spice rule early, but give way to floral. Stable finish; oily, complex notes of things that really don?t go together linger. Think a dry martini, forest honey, peat, wasabi
