Port Ellen 1983
70cl / 46%
27 Year Old Provenance
- Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A 46% Port Ellen 1983 bottled from a refill butt by McGibbons (aka Douglas Laing) for their Provenance series. Described by the bottlers as 'well-balanced between sweet and smoky elements...mentholated...soft tar...sweetly smoked with a salty, leathery quality'. Sounds like textbook refill late PE to us.

Mid smokey, not like Ardbeg for instance, but has more peat than Bowmore. Something like Caol Ila.. Extremely smooth and soft. Amazing whisky, no doubt at all. 93/100.
Bit like a menthol werthers original with sooty aftertaste. If you like such an impression go for it.
