11 Year Old Bordeaux Cask Matured
- Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
- Distillery Bottling
Fully matured in casks from famed St. Julien claret house Chateau Lagrange, this small-ish batch Auchentoshan is pretty assertive at cask strength but mellows with a drop of water, and has picked up some attractive berry / fruit compote notes over its 11 years in the wine casks.

Winner of the World Whisky Awards 2012 Best Lowland Single Malt. Rightfully so!
Nose: sweet and sour, but the summer berries (gooseberry, currant and juniper) come out victorious. Tangerines and grapes, some chocolate and something meaty and flinty after leaving it to breath for a while. Cinnamon and cloves. Palate: very creamy and again red summer fruit. The wine influence is obvious, but pleasant. Finish: dry and short, with a bitter edge. I like it.
