Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Pronounced aromas of fruit, barley and toffee – this isn’t shy.

Palate: Well-balanced notes of juicy, appley fruit and sweet grains and barley, seasoned with toast and spice from the oak. Very appealing and very easy to drink.

Finish: The oak and spice persist after the soft fruit disappears.

Beautiful whiskey. I couldn''t recommend it enough. Complexity of flavour and quality of Pot Still. A great ambassador for the Irish whisky industry.

Very smooth. Needs no spoiling with water. Now I have to hide this bottle and offer my visitors Jameson 12 year old. Yellow Spot hits the spot!

Fruity and spicy with a that nice creamy texture you get from pot still whiskey, I do have a complaint though, the complaint being that it seemed quite spirity at first but once I got half way through the bottle this whiskey really came to life, and really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it, glad to see Ireland embracing their heritage and producing some high quality whiskey again.

If you want good whiskey, you drink Irish whiskey, if you want great whiskey you drink Yellow Spot - It does get a bit dangerous as it's so smooth you don't think it packs the punch - Craic

Compared last night against The Glenlivet 18yr and The Glenrothes Select Reserve all bought for my birthday ---streets ahead straight -- even better with a thimble of water !!

This is a fantastic Irish whiskey; I don't anticipate it will be on the shelves here for very long.
