The first edition of Kilchoman's ongoing sherry cask matured whisky. Richly coloured, and full of Islay smoke and sherry fruit thanks to its initial maturation of over 5 years in Oloroso sherry butts and a two month finish in Oloroso hogsheads.

Friends bought me a bottle of this for my birthday, and what a present it turned out to be. Nose is rich & rambunctious with wafts of candy & sherry. Letting a sip dissolve around the tongue revealed an immensely smooth and complex character which continued to develop throughout the finish. So much going on with this whisky, if you''re a fan of strong, peaty whiskies and looking to move into alternate yet equally strong flavours this is an excellent avenue to explore. Probably lasted the shorted amount of time in my possession, too moreish to put down.
Very well balanced dram with just the right amount of sweetness, which mostly comes from Oloroso sherry. Finish is surprisingly long for such young whisky, it is pleasant too. Peat is understated, as the producer already stated, which makes this dram easily drinkable and generally more approachable. I agree with the reviewer below that this is the most exciting new malt around at the moment. 89/100
Indeed, the peat/sherry crown certainly belongs with Ardbeg's Uigeadail for now. This is fierce at the moment, though a few drops of water opens it beautifully and the potential to wear the crown is obvious. Most exciting new malt around right now, absolutely worth every penny.
This is fantastic stuff. The peat and sherry marriage is just about right. A potential Uigeadail killer, but not just yet :)
Had some, it's great. If its this good now, the 10 should be amazing
