Unspeakable Quality and Refinement Tried this identical bottle in the same week as tasting some superb vintages of Camus XO and "Hennessy VSOP Privilege (*the version not made anymore" from similar years. But still, this was like the difference you''d get in receiving life wisdom from your 30 year-old uncle versus your 90 year-old grandpa who fought in two wars. This drink is on a whole other level. This cognac is impossibly deep, woody and full of dark fruit. And in a strange twist of fate: delivers on its promise at every layer. Full review here: Scent: Sour raisins, plum, green apple, lemon sugar, a good waft of old varnished cabinets Savor: Soft wood, red apple, orange flesh, cinnamon & pepper with deep oil flavors washes it all into a very expensive old money flavor that is deeper than can be described. Overall, it smells sweeter than it tastes, and the wood flavors are smooth. Finish: pink peppercorn and dates, a water wash with a little of the lemon notes from the nose Also: Felt too thick and refined to have any ABV burn. There is simply no taste of alcohol in here. The most sensitive of royal ladies could wash down this bottle without a hiccup. It is worth noting that my bottle had no lost ABV, with a literally perfect level, so no worry of product loss or mis-dilution was needed. This old beauty is very unlike modern cognacs and nothing like any VSOP or younger. There is no brightness to this beauty, only depth. Like a passionate mysterious brunette rather than a young glitzy blonde. This is even better than the review sounds. To those who do not like bright, sharp, and super-fruity cognacs this is a dream come true. I
