Macallan Ruby Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Very stylish aromas of hazelnut, dried fruit and sweet spice, with the freshness of raspberries and cherries balancing things out beautifully. Delve deeper and you’ll find some dark-chocolate notes, as well as roasted coffee, demerara sugar and a hint of leather-bound books.
Palate: Smooth mouthfeel, delivering notes of chocolate cake, nuts, red fruits (cherries, raspberries), nutmeg and cinnamon. Rich but not overbearing; there are clearly some top-notch casks at play here.
Finish: Rich and spicy – very satisfying. No single element dominates, with the chocolate, sweet spice and fruit all intermingling. A serious whisky but great fun to drink!
Comment: The ace in the pack of Macallan’s 1824 Series, this is rich and rewarding. Perfectly balanced and highly impressive.

I used to be a huge Mac fan, but the Ruby is nothing but mediocre, just plain average and barely above a JW Blue. For anyone who used to love Macallan''s it is a disappointment. It serves best as an amazing example of how to destroy a premium brand.
A very nice Macallan. I dont think its worth the extra money over and above the Sienna.
Quite possibly the finest whisky I have had the pleasure to taste/own. Asides from the packaging, which is very impressive, this dram shines head and shoulders above others I have tried. Absolutely fabulous rich, deep body. On the nose you are hit straight away by a real sense of quality, bursting with sweet sherry. Taking some into the mouth reveals an incredibly well rounded and mellow taste but packed with flavour. The finish is long and woody and left me craving another sip. This was my first Macallan, now I''m eager to see what other corkers this distillery has been hiding from me all these years. To buy it is to love it.
Absolutely fantastic - This is one of the best scotches I have ever had. This is better than 18 yo Macallan Sherry Oak and Balvenie Doublewood 12, which had been my previous two favorite scotches. Great rich flavor and very smooth finish.
A really nice sherry finished whisky. Smooth, rich, and quite drinkable. Should be enjoyed neat. A perfect gift for the sherry finish lover, or a newcomer to scotch alike.
excellent quality and reasonable price! perfect to self enjoy and present
Truly The top of the 1824 Series Macallan,!!! Aged in sherry casks and colored by a deep ruby rich and deep color and richer flavor !!!...... ***Try to drink cold - (place it in the freezer for at least 1 hour) - no water or ice cube ... ;-)
