The 9th cask that The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottled from Glen Grant. This was distilled in 1981, just a few years into the previous ownership of Seagram's. Today around half of the production is used as the base for the Chivas range of blends. Strong as a Fisherman's Friend is the official SWMS description.

Tasting Notes

  • Producer's Notes

Distilled at Rothes, by the Glen Grant burn, from which the distillery takes its name. The spirit is pale as straw, the result of maturation in a refilled hogshead. It is in the taste that there is a great surprise, for this is one of the few exceptions to the rule that nose is the condition of quality. In the mouth, there is an explosion of sweetness: light but full-bodied. In the end it is as strong as a fisherman's Friend.
