A ten year old, elegantly peaty single malt from Nikka's beautiful Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, where whisky is made as it used to be in Scotland with small direct-fired stills and matured in the finest wood the company can find. Bottled at 45% for extra oomph. On the face of it, this is expensive for a ten year old whisky, but it's well worth the money in quality terms.

Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Old Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Lots of red and dark fruit, almost winey notes, along with smoke and subtle peatiness.

Palate: Citrus fruit cuts through the weighty malt and peat, joined by rich spiciness. Slightly perfumed note, too, rose-petal like. Lots to think about here, with good texture and balance.

Finish: Weighty and long lasting, with the spice winning out.

  • Distributor's Tasting Notes

Nose: A clean fresh fragrance with notes of peat, light smoke and spice.

Palate:  More light peat with some rounded vanilla and tobacco coming from the oak casks.

Finish:  Excellent balance between the fruit and oak with some light fruit and flower elements coming through.

Had no idea this would be one of my favorites when I first gave it a try, but it is so easily drinkable and on my short list of must-haves.

It's difficult to understand how a Japanese tenner at this price can be so amazing. It's flawless!

Citrus and floral tones with a wonderful, yet not overpowering smokey finish. This will definitely be a repeat buy

Fantastic! My favorit. The smoke taste came after a while. Try this!

A fantastic whisky, well worth its price. An allrounder to honor any occasion. One of the best 10 yo ever and a must in the daily dram cabinet. "Dangerously drinkable!"

Nada que envidiar a un speyside acabado en Jerez (en verdad, supera a muchos de ellos). Joven pero suave y dulce en su justa medida. Un gran whisky
