Pol RogerChampagne & Sparkling Wine

Pol Roger has a top-class reputation among Champagnes, and is known as one of the most stylish fizzes around.

Sir Winston Churchill

Pol Roger will always have a connection with former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, who drank a generous amount of the Champagne every day (and an estimated 42,000 bottles during his lifetime!). Pol Roger named a special bottling after him – Cuvée Winston Churchill – in 1975.

Good Pol Roger Vintages

If you're looking for a great Pol Roger vintage Champagne, it's worth remembering that Champagne houses are generally in agreement as to the best years. If you choose something from either 2008, 2006, 2004 or 2002, you won't go wrong.

Pol Roger Storage and Drinking Dates

With all good wine, it's sensible to keep bottles horizontally, not vertically, to ensure that the cork does not dry out, which could lead to oxygen getting inside the bottle and affecting the flavour of the wine or Champagne inside. It's also a good idea to keep bottles out of direct sunlight, as this can also adversely affect quality. In terms of ageing, good Champagne can last a long time – sometimes up to 40-50 years. Remember, though, that the flavour of Champagne will change significantly over time, losing its youthful fruit and developing a savoury complexity, which while prized by some, is not to everyone's taste.
