First created in 1884 in Barbados by Valdemar Hanschell, Cockspur rum soon became one of the most popular in the Caribbean. Hanschell gave over the reins to the Stade Brothers at the West Indies Rum Distillery to continue production. Whilst striving for a unique taste, the Brothers introduced the first continuous column stills to Barbados which perfected the crisp taste of Cockspur.
