Exclusive to The Whisky Exchange
We're delighted to introduce this peaty single cask from the award-winning Kavalan distillery in Taiwan. Peated Kavalan has traditionally only been sold at the distillery, which makes this exclusive bottling for The Whisky Exchange extra special.
The whisky has been aged in casks which previously held Islay single malt, adding a hint of perfectly integrated smoke to Kavalan’s trademark tropical-fruit notes.

- Rich toffee with a softly smoke vanilla pod undertone. Roasted pineapple, peaches and freshly ground black pepper lie atop buttered brioche.
- An oily mouthed with ashy smoke up front. Dry toasted spices – cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns and whole nutmeg – fade to reveal intense apple sauce tartness, bitter barrel char and rich dried orange peel. The dryness calms, and sweet orange and lemon appear, drizzled with salted caramel sauce.
- Lemon zest and sorbet with woody spices to start. Softer notes of vanilla cream build, run through with lemon zest. Polished oak and citrus oil linger.
Kavalan distillery was built on the site of a mineral-water bottling plant in northern Taiwan owned by the brand's parent company, The King Car Group. The construction period took just nine months, and the first spirit flowed from the stills in March 2006. In the decade that has followed, the distillery's whiskies have won countless awards including Solist Fino being named as New Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2012, and Vinho Barrique winning World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards in 2015. Continuing demand led to a second set of stills being added in 2016, which has doubled capacity.
