Vault Edition First Release Atlantic Sea SaltPlease wait Please wait
The first release in Bowmore’s Vault Editions series, Atlantic Sea Salt is a fruity, smoky single malt that highlights the distillery’s maritime character. This whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks, behind the sea-facing wall of the distillery’s legendary No. 1 Vaults, creating a fruity, smoky flavour with a salty, maritime character, reminiscent of the Atlantic sea spray that washes against the building. Zesty, citrus aromas mingle with salty, smoky peat, while the palate offers notes of honeycomb, blood orange, cinnamon, hot-chocolate and smoky driftwood.

About the producer
The first distillery on Islay to receive a licence, Bowmore was officially founded in 1779. It is likely, however, that the distillery’s founder, David Simpson, had been distilling in Bowmore since shortly after his arrival on Islay in 1766. It also boasts one of the oldest barrel houses on Islay – the iconic No. 1 Vaults.
The distillery passed through four owners before 1963, when it was bought by the Morrison family, who subsequently sold the distillery to the Japanese whisky company Suntory in 1994.

I tried this during a visit to the distillery – I loved it. Fruitier than a typical Islay, and it had this amazing salty finish that got more intense with each sip. A really tasty dram.
A really rich whisky with a great after-taste
This gets better the further you go down the bottle. It starts out with some bitter notes but then gets richer and more fruity as you progress. A great dram
Best whiskey ever, really good service from whiskey exchange
With some air and time, and especially next to another Islay, this is really fruity. Through and though Bowmore with tropical meets citrus in some perfect harmony... nevertheless, there is no denying the salty, maritime character, which balances this out amazingly. At half the cost, the world would be going mad for this...
Excellent dram, but sadly over-priced. This is an uncharacteristically salty and spicy Bowmore, where the smoke does not dominate. Sharp spices and minimal sweetness, very unusual and tasty. But despite greatness, the price is unwarranted.
Classy Bowmore - wood smoke with mild peat ,some salt, and a nice fruity character. Some nasal clearing RUB A535. Novocain. Chili powder. A very exciting mixed bag!
