This 21-year-old single malt from Benriach distillery has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and red wine casks, creating a complex, yet well-balanced whisky. Aromas of stem ginger and vanilla are tempered by summer fruits and orange zest on the nose, while the palate offers notes of cinnamon, vanilla, citrus peel, tangy red berries and barley sugars.

    About the producer

    Benriach Benriach

Located in the heart of Speyside, Benriach distillery was built in 1898 by John Duff, using water from the Burnside Springs to make its whisky, but operated for only two years before the 1900 crash in the whisky industry. Forced to cease production, Benriach lay silent for 65 years before being re-opened in 1965. The distillery changed ownership many times over the next 35 years, before being bought by Pernod Ricard in 2001, though it was then mothballed in 2002. Under new leadership, Benriach once again resumed production in 2004 and has since found itself among the most popular whiskies in Speyside.

Somewhat delicate & inoffensive. Expected it to be more complex. A good whisky but a tad disappointing.
